The June 12th Ontario Election is fast approaching, and we want to know where provincial candidates stand on what CPF Ontario members care about: more and better opportunities for our children to learn and use French! On May 27th, we emailed all candidates the same questionnaire. These were our four questions: Q1: Are you aware that there are over 1.4 million Ontarians who speak both English and French, the vast majority of whom learned French as a second language?

Q2: Do you believe funding for French Second Language education programs should be maintained, increased or decreased? Why?

Q3: In a competitive global economy, where 52 nations have French as an official or working language, do you believe French-language, post-secondary education should be a priority in Ontario?

Q4: What has been your or your family’s experience with French?

Read the answers from candidates who have replied to our email. Please Note: Candidates’ email responses have been converted to PDF files and some have 2 or more pages. The list below is arranged in alphabetical order by the candidates’ first name. We will continue to post candidates’ responses up until election day. If your candidate is not listed yet, check this page again for updates. You can also download each party’s proposals for Ontario’s education further below (after the candidates’ responses.)
