Mission Statement:
Canadian Parents for French is a nationwide, research-informed, volunteer organization that furthers bilingualism by promoting opportunities to learn and use French for all those who call Canada home.
Vision Statement:
A Canada where French – and English – speakers live together in mutual respect with an understanding and appreciation of each other’s language and culture and where linguistic duality forms an integral part of society.

At Canadian Parents for French we value commitment to our mandate, the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge, and the taking of initiative and responsibility so that we achieve credibility and effectiveness.
Position Statements on French as a Second Language (FSL) Education in Ontario
Approved by the CPF Ontario Board of Directors on January 26, 2019.
It is the position of CPF Ontario that Ontario students, including newly arrived immigrants and new residents to the province, have a right to access quality Core French, Extended French, and French Immersion programs as a means of learning Canada’s other official language and that the province and school boards are responsible for removing barriers to participating and retention through graduation.
It is the position of CPF Ontario that French Second Language (FSL) programs deliver high quality language experiences for JK-12 and post-secondary students with relevant and authentic resources, access to information technology and media, qualified proficient staff, and social and cultural experiences.
It is the position of CPF Ontario that the Ministry of Education and school boards be accountable for FSL policy, programming, student achievement, and be transparent in their allocation and expenditure of federal and provincial FSL funds. Consultation should be open, inclusive, and documented.
It is the position of CPF Ontario that Ontario students have equitable access to free transportation to the FSL program of their choice.
It is the position of CPF Ontario that FSL programs adhere to the principle of differentiated instruction and that students be provided with accommodations to enable them to succeed.
It is the position of CPF Ontario that Early French Immersion students in Ontario be exempted from English reading and writing EQAO in Grade 3. When provincial student achievement results are publicly reported, in addition to reporting overall student achievement, French Immersion results are reported separately.
French Second Language Advisory Committee (FSLAC)
It is the position of CPF Ontario that the ministry mandates an FSL Advisory Committee (FSLAC) within each school board which includes staff, parent, administrator, and trustee representation.
Parent Involvement Committee (PIC)
It is the position of CPF Ontario that parent involvement at the school board level is strengthened through CPF representation on each Parent Involvement Committee (PIC).
