Meet the 2023-2024 CPF Ontario Board of Directors

President

Denise Massie

Denise has advocated for French as a Second Language (FSL) education and opportunities to numerous stakeholders and decision makers at the provincial and national levels. 

She previously served on the executive of the CPF Hamilton-Wentworth Chapter and as a voting member on the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board’s French as a Second Language Advisory Committee.

Myron Karpiuk

A passionate advocate for French programs, Myron is a retired elementary school principal living in Thunder Bay.  

He was instrumental in piloting the FI program at the secondary level for the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board. He is qualified as an examiner for the DELF/DALF from the A1 to C2 level. Since retiring, Myron has continued to work in a variety of roles, including principal mentor and FSL support

Susan Lee

A native Montrealer, Susan advocates for French programs and activities in schools. 

She volunteered to support her children’s teachers in the French Immersion program in Peel.  Susan has a Masters in Educational Technology from Concordia University and a dual MBA from Cornell University and Queen’s University.

Mỹ is continually advocating for French as a Second Language education to numerous stakeholders and decision-makers at the provincial/national levels. 

Her native languages are Vietnamese and Cantonese and has been working on improving her French language proficiency since completing her studies.

Deborah Williams

A TDSB school board Trustee and dedicated parent volunteer, Deborah is an experienced community leader who collaborates with stakeholders to improve student achievement, mental health and well-being. 

She believes that strong public education builds strong communities. Deborah advocates for equity in everyone’s opportunity to become bilingual through quality French Second Language programs in Ontario.

Sandhya Mylabathula

Sandhya has been learning French since her Gr. 3 Core French class, which sparked her passion for this language. 

Her other passion is science, which she shares as one of the STEAM Sisters. Through this and other science outreach work, she organizes science activities, including in French, for youth (K-Gr. 12), and plans French activities for peers at the post-secondary level.
