We are pleased to report that Canadian Parents for French (Ontario) and the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) validating CPF Ontario as an official educational partner.

The recent anti-spam legislation initiated new regulations that made it difficult for parent volunteers, teachers and board administrators alike to promote even long-standing successful events such as the Concours d’art oratoire within TDSB schools.  This educational partnership agreement is significant as it will enable CPF Ontario volunteers to continue to engage parents and support French Second Language (FSL) students throughout the school board with ease of access.

Specifically, it permits CPF Ontario Toronto Chapters within the TDSB to distribute informative brochures, promote and deliver a full array of programming including lunchtime and afterschool clubs, socio-cultural performances and interactive events for students and workshops for parents and families in any given school.

This MOU will expedite a vetting process for board-wide distribution of resources and promotional material announcing CPF Ontario-sponsored activities, such as webinars and workshops for parents as well as the Bilingual Success Conferences and the Concours d’art oratoire for FSL students.

CPF Ontario Toronto Chapter Executives will be briefed on the MOU and will ensure that all volunteers adhere to any new protocols. CPF Ontario volunteers working in schools or at offsite afterschool programs or camps, will now have direct access to the TDSB Police Reference Check Office with a discounted fee of $20 and a guaranteed two to three week turnaround time to obtain a Full Disclosure Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Records Check.

A special thank you goes out to John Tancredi, TDSB Central Coordinating Principal and Kirsten Johnston, TDSB Program Coordinator, FSL, Classical and International Languages, for supporting and strengthening the CPF Ontario application for partnership. We share this successful moment with you!
