TRUSTEE ELECTION – OCTOBER 24, 2022
Questions for School Board Trustees

With the Ontario municipal election coming on Oct. 24th, you must have questions for your school board trustee. They are making house calls and participating in town hall meetings to make their policies known to voters like you. We have a few suggestions you might want to consider, especially if you believe in the benefits of bilingualism.

  1. What’s your personal experience with learning French? Or your family’s experience?
  2. If elected, are you going to support policies and practices to ensure access to French programs,
including French Immersion, for all students whose parents/guardians choose that educational
    path?
  3. The Ministry of Education allocates an annual French as a Second Language grant to each school
board based on enrolment in Core, Extended, and Immersion French programs. If elected, will you
work on ensuring those funds are used for their intended purposes? What would you prioritize for
    those funds?

Canadian Parents for French encourages each of its members and all who are interested in the
benefits of bilingualism and French language learning for our youth to ask these questions of
the candidates running in your jurisdiction.

Make voting a priority – public education matters!
