The 2013-2014 school year has come to an end, and CPF Ontario is happy to announce the winner of this year’s “Encounters with Canada Fiction Contest.”

The contest was open to all Ontario students in grades 9‐11 (14 to 17 years old) studying French as a Second Language (Core French, Extended French or French Immersion).

In anticipation of Toronto hosting the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games, we asked participating students to write a piece of fiction in French, capturing the “spirit of sports and culture.”

Our congratulations go to Mary Athanasopoulos, a grade 11 Core French student with the York Catholic District School Board.

Mary has won an all‐inclusive trip to Ottawa to attend a week‐long Encounters with Canada Youth Forum (valued at $675).

Mary’s poem, titled Le plus grand trésor, speaks about the love of hockey being passed on from a father to a son, who in turn looks forward to passing it on to his own son.
